Green Tomato Chutney

Ingredients

Green tomato
- ¼ kg
•
Green chillies
- 8
•
Tamarind water
- 1 tablespoon
•
Fenugreek powder (prepare: dry roast & powder)
- ½ teaspoon
•
Salt
- as required
•
Oil
- as required
•
Asafoetidas
- a pinch
•
Mustard seeds
- ¼ teaspoon
•
Onions (peeled, small)
- 1 cup
Method
1. Select
tomatoes
which are turning little whitish colour (just before ripening stage).
Wash
and
cut
finely.
2.
Heat
oil
and
fry
green chillies
and chopped
tomatoes
together till moisture is completely absorbed.
3. Cool down to room temperature and pound it along with
tamarind
,
salt
and small
onions
to
coarse paste
.
4.
Heat
little
oil
, season
mustard seeds
,
add
asafoetida powder
and then
tomato
pachadi.
5.
Mix
well in the hot
frying
pan for one minute,
add
fenugreek powder
and
mix
well.
6. This pachadi can be served with cooked rice and for idlis.
