Dal Chutney

Oil
- 1 tablespoon

Urad dal
- 1 tablespoon
•
Chana dal
- 1 tablespoon
•
Tuvar dal
- 1 tablespoon
•
Oil
- 1 tablespoon
•
Garlic cloves
- 6
•
Red chillies (dry)
- 6
•
Coconut (fresh)
- 1 cup
•
Hing
- ½ teaspoon
•
Tamarind water
- ½ cup
•
Salt
- as required
•
Oil
- 1 teaspoon
•
Mustard seeds
- ½ teaspoon
•
Curry leaves
- 1 sprig
Method
1.
Heat
oil
in a
frying
pan.
Add
urad dal
,
chana dal
and
tuvar dal
.
Fry
until golden brown.
Keep
aside.
2.
Heat
oil
in a
frying
pan.
Add
garlic, dry
red chilly
, fresh
coconut
and
hing
.
Fry
until
coconut
becomes golden.
3.
Add
tamarind water
.
Fry
for 2 seconds.
Add
salt
.
4.
Blend
dal
mixture
and
coconut
mixture
into a
coarse paste
.
5.
Heat
oil
in a
frying
pan.
Add
mustard seeds
. When the
mustard seeds
starts to splutter,
add
curry leaves
and saute.
6.
Add
the
mustard seed
seasoning
to the chutney.
