Ingredients

Red chillies
- 7
•
Fenugreek seeds
- 2 teaspoons
•
Thuar dal
- 1 cup
•
Tamarinds (soaked & extracted)
- a little
•
Onions (finely cut)
- 2 tablespoons
•
Salt
- as required
•
Oil (for frying)
- as required
Method
1.
Heat
little
oil
,
add
broken
red chillies
,
fenugreek seeds
and
fry
for a minute.
2.
Add
thuar dal
,
fry
for a minute and
add
enough
water
.
3.
Cook
in medium flame
stirring
constantly till
dal
becomes soft.
4.
Fry
onions
separately and
add
to
dal
along with
tamarind
extract and
salt
.
5.
Boil
for another minute.
Serve
with cooked rice.
Variations
• Omit
fenugreek
,
add
black
pepper
and follow the above procedure.
• Omit
fenugreek
,
add
small
onions
, tomato, any other
vegetable
.
Add
it when
dal
is half cooked.
