Gujarati Dal

Ingredients

Thuar dal
- ½ cup

Tomatoes
- 3
•
Red chilly powder
- ½ teaspoon
•
Salt
- 1 teaspoon
•
Groundnuts (raw)
- ½ cup
•
Oil
- 1 tablespoon
•
Cumin seeds
- ½ teaspoon
•
Cinnamon
- 1 inch piece
•
Cloves
- 3
•
Turmeric powder
- ¼ teaspoon
•
Coriander leaves
- 1 tablespoon
•
Lemon
- 1
Ingredients For Crushing Coarsely
•
Green chillies
- 5
•
Ginger
- ½ inch piece
Method
1. Pressure
cook
dal
in enough
water
with
turmeric powder
.
2.
Chop
tomatoes
into 1 inch cubes.
3.
Heat
oil
in a
frying
pan.
Add
cumin seeds
,
cloves
,
cinnamon
and then chopped
tomatoes
.
4.
Fry
till it turns pulpy.
5.
Mix
cooked
dal
,
chilly
powder
,
salt
and raw peanuts.
6.
Boil
for 1 or 2 minutes and then
add
crushed
ginger
and
chillies
.
7.
Cook
for few minutes and
remove
from fire.
8. Squeeze
lemon
juice and garnish with chopped
coriander leaves
.
9.
Serve
hot with chapatis or pulkas.
