Tomato Onion Chutney

Onions (big)

Onions (small)
- 1 cup

Tomatoes
- 6
•
Garlic
- 5 flakes
•
Red chillies
- 8
•
Tamarind
- small lime size
•
Curry leaves
- 2 sprigs
•
Salt
- as required
•
Asafoetidas
- a little
•
Oil
- a little
•
Mustard seeds
- ½ teaspoon
•
Urad dal
- 1 teaspoon
Method
1.
Peel
and
dice
onions
.
2.
Cut
tomatoes
finely.
3.
Heat
little
oil
in a
frying
pan,
add
mustard
,
urad dal
,
curry leaves
and then
garlic
, small
onion
, big
onion
.
4.
Fry
well and then
add
tomatoes
.
5.
Stir
fry
until moisture is evaporated.
6.
Add
salt
,
tamarind
and
remove
from fire.
7. Allow to cool thoroughly and
grind
to a coarse chutney consistency and
serve
.
