Tomato Masala Chutney

Tomatoes (ripe)

Garlic
- 6 flakes

Onions (small)

Red chillies
- 8

Tamarind
- lime size
•
Jaggery (grated)
- 1 teaspoon
•
Bengal gram dal
- 1 tablespoon
•
Urad dal
- 1 tablespoon
•
Cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon
•
Cloves
- 2
•
Aniseeds
- ½ teaspoon
•
Salt
- as required
•
Oil (for frying)
- as required
Method
1.
Wash
and
dice
tomatoes
.
2.
Heat
½ Teaspoon of ghee in a
frying
pan
roast
aniseeds
,
cloves
until crisp and
powder
coarsely.
3.
Heat
½ Teaspoon of
oil
and
roast
red chillies
,
urad dal
,
bengal gram dal
and
add
cumin seed
.
4.
Fry
unit it becomes brown. Transfer it to a plate.
5.
Heat
little more
oil
in the same
frying
pan and
fry
garlic
,
onion
and
tomatoes
.
6.
Powder
the roasted
ingredients
,
add
fried
vegetables
along with
salt
, soaked
tamarind
.
7.
Grind
to coarse chutney consistency.
8.
Add
spice
powder
at the end and then
serve
for chapati, puri and all.
