Tomato Kurma

Ingredients

Onions
- 3

Tomato
- ½ kg
•
Oil
- 1 ½ tablespoons
•
Salt
- as required
Ingredients For Grinding Together
•
Coconut (grated)
- ½
•
Cashew nuts
- 6
•
Poppy seeds
- 1 tablespoon
•
Red chillies
- 5
•
Green chillies
- 3
•
Coriander seeds
- 1 teaspoon
•
Sugar
- ½ teaspoon
•
Garam masala powder
- ½ teaspoon
Method
1.
Heat
oil
in a pan, season with aniseeds or cumin
seeds
.
2.
Add
finely
cut
onions
and
fry
till golden brown.
3. Put finely
cut
tomatoes
and continue to
fry
for a few minutes.
4.
Add
the ground
masala
,
salt
,
sugar
and enough
water
.
5. Allow it to
boil
till the raw flavour is lost.
6. When the gravy is thick enough
remove
from fire and
serve
hot with chapatis or idlis.
