Thuar Dal Chutney

Ingredients

• • Thuar dal - ¼ cup
• • Peeling small onions - 10
• • Red chillies - 8
• • Tamarind (soaked & extracted) - small lime size
• • Salt - as required
• • Coriander leaves - ½ bunch
• • Curry leaves - 2 sprigs
• • Oil - as required
• • Mustard seeds - ¼ teaspoon
• • Cumin seeds - ½ teaspoon
• • Asafoetida - 2 pinches

Method

• 1. Fry red chillies, thuar dal until golden brown using little ghee.
• 2. Transfer the roasted ingredients in a plate.
• 3. In that same frying pan fry small onions using little oil.
• 4. Grind roasted ingredients along with salt, tamarind, coriander, curry leaves until coarse chutney consistency.
• 5. Add fried onion at the end and grind again.
• 6. Season mustard, cumin in little oil, mix asafoetida powder in that hot oil itself and add to chutney.
• 7. Mix well and serve.
