Tauk Dal

Ingredients
•
Tur dal/Split pigeon peas
- 1 cup
•
Mango (raw)
- 1
•
Green chillies (slit)
- 5
•
Turmeric powder
- ½ teaspoon
•
Salt
- as required
•
Sugar
- 1 teaspoon
•
Ghee
- 1 tablespoon
•
Mustard seeds
- ½ teaspoon
•
Cooking oil
- 2 tablespoons
Method
1.
Soak
the
dal
in
water
for half an hour and pressure
cook
it in a pressure
cook
until you
get
3 or 4 whistles and
keep
aside.
2. Skin the
mango
and
slice
it into long pieces.
3.
Heat
oil
in a non-stick
frying
pan and put
Mustard seeds
. When the
mustard seeds
cracking
add
mango
pieces and
turmeric powder
and
stir
well.
4.
Add
the cooked
dal
in the
frying
pan and
mix
well for 3 or 4 minutes.
5.
Add
sugar
and
salt
and
mix
well. If the
mix
is too thick,
add
some
water
to loosen it or if it is too watery
cook
more time so that it thickens.
6. Finally
add
ghee
to enhance the flavour.
Serve
it warm along with rice or chapati.
