Ingredients
•
Green gram dal
- ¾ cup
•
Chow-chow
- 1
•
Garlic
- 10 flakes
•
Red chillies
- 5
•
Salt
- as required
•
Cumin seeds
- ½ teaspoon
•
Oil
- 2 teaspoons
•
Turmeric powder
- a pinch
Method
1.
Scrape
outer skin,
remove
inner
seed
and
dice
the
vegetable
into 1 inch cubes.
2.
Wash
dal
,
add
enough
water
,
turmeric powder
and chopped
vegetables
.
3.
Cook
in medium flame
stirring
in between till
dal
and
vegetable
becomes soft.
4.
Fry
cumin seeds
,
garlic
, broken
red chillies
in
oil
and
add
to the
dal
with enough
salt
.
5.
Cook
for few more minutes and
serve
hot with cooked rice.
Note - Variations
• Ridge gourd, Snake gourd, White pumpkin, Ash gourd or bottle gourd can be used instead of
chow-chow
to
make
above type of
dal
.
