Raw Jack Fruit Kootu

Ingredients

• • Thuar dal - ¾ cup
• • Jack fruits (small, raw, cut into squares) - 1 ½ cups
• • Onions (finely cut) - ½ cup
• • Salt - as required
• • Red chilli powder - 1 teaspoon
• • Curry leaves - 2 sprigs

Ingredients For Seasoning

• • Oil - 2 teaspoons
• • Cumin seeds - ½ teaspoon
• • Urad dal - 1 teaspoon

Method

• 1. Pressure cook thuar dal and add jack fruit in different vessels for 3 whistles. (with just enough water)
• 2. Add salt, chilly powder to the cooked jack with just enough water.
• 3. Boil for few minutes and then add cooked thuar dal (Do not over cook thuar dal).
• 4. Heat oil in a pan add cumin seeds, urad dal, curry leaves and then onion.
• 5. Fry well and pour on top of the kootu.
• 6. Allow to boil for 2 more minutes and remove from fire.
