Punjabi Chole Masala

Ingredients
•
Kabuli chanas (soaked overnight and drained)
- 1 cup
•
Oil
- 2 tablespoons
•
Cumin seeds
- ½ teaspoon
•
Onions (finely chopped)
- ½ cup
•
Ginger (finely chopped)
- ½ teaspoon
•
Garlic (finely chopped)
- 2 teaspoons
•
Chole masala
- 2 teaspoons
•
Chilly powder
- 1 teaspoon
•
Mango powder (dried)
- 1 teaspoon
•
Turmeric powder
- ¼ teaspoon
•
Coriander powder
- 2 teaspoons
•
Cumin seed powder
- 1 teaspoon
•
Salt
- as required
Method
1. Pressure
cook
kabuli chana
with
salt
and enough
water
.
Keep
aside.
2.
Heat
the
oil
in a deep pan and
add
cumin seeds
.
3. When the
seeds
crackle,
add
onion
,
ginger
and
garlic
and sauté until the
onions
turn translucent.
4. Then
add
chole masala
,
chilly powder
, dried
mango powder
,
turmeric powder
,
coriander powder
,
cumin seed powder
with some
water
.
5.
Add
the
kabuli chana
,
mix
well and
cook
for 5 minutes, while
stirring
occasionally.
6.
Mash
the
kabuli chana
once lightly with the masher.
7.
Serve
hot with chapati or paratha.
