Prawn Pollichathu

Ingredients For Marination

Prawns
- 6

Chilly powder
- ½ teaspoon

Turmeric powder
- ¼ teaspoon

Salt

Lime juice

Coconut oil
- 2 teaspoons
Ingredients For Masala
•
Coconut oil
- 3 teaspoons
•
Mustard seeds
- ¼ teaspoon
•
Fenugreek seeds
- ¼ teaspoon
•
Curry leaves
- 8
•
Green chillies (slit)
- 2
•
Ginger (chopped)
- 1 teaspoon
•
Garlic (chopped)
- ½ teaspoon
•
Onion (chopped)
- ½
•
Shallots/Small onions
- 10
•
Coriander powder
- 1 tablespoon
•
Red chilly powder
- 1 teaspoon
•
Crushed black pepper
- ¼ teaspoon
•
Turmeric powder
- ¼ teaspoon
•
Tomato (chopped)
- ½
•
Fish stock
- ½ cup
•
Coconut milk
- ¼ cup
•
Salt
- as required
Method
1.
Marinate
prawns
in the
mix
of
chilly powder
,
turmeric powder
,
lime juice
and
salt
for 10 minutes.
2.
Heat
oil
in a pan and saute the marinated
prawns
for 5 minutes on low
heat
and set aside.
3.
Heat
oil
in a pan and
add
mustard seeds
, when it crackles
add
fenugreek seeds
.
Add
curry leaves
,
onion
,
shallots
and rest of the
ingredients
, saute till
onions
turn brown.
Add
fish stock
and marinated
prawns
now.
Cook
covered for 5 minutes.
Remove
the lid and
cook
for 5 more minutes.
4. Allow the gravy to
reduce
to a semi dry consistency.
Cook
till the
prawns
turn dark brown. Finish by
adding
coconut milk
, give a final
cook
for ½ a minute.
Add
salt
to
taste
.
5.
Serve
hot with appam, rice, chapati or paratha.
