Onion Gotsu

Ingredients

Onion (peeled, small)
- ½ kg
•
Tamarind
- small lemon size
•
Salt
- as required
•
Coconut oil
- as required
(optional)
Ingredients For Roasting & Grinding
•
Red chillies
- 8
•
Dhania
- 2 teaspoons
•
Coconut (grated, fresh)
- 1 cup
Ingredients For Seasoning
•
Cumin seeds
- ½ teaspoon
Method
1.
Peel
small
onions
and
cut
finely.
2.
Soak
tamarind
in
water
and squeeze to a thick extract.
Strain
.
3.
Heat
little
oil
in a '
frying
pan' and
roast
chillies
,
dhania
until crisp.
4. Transfer to a plate and
keep
aside. In that same
frying
pan
roast
coconut
until it turns dark brown in colour.
5.
Grind
chillies
,
dhania
,
coconut
to a coarse chutney consistency.
6.
Heat
little
oil
,
add
cumin seeds
,
cut
onions
and
fry
until golden.
7.
Pour
tamarind
extract,
salt
and
boil
.
8.
Add
ground paste
and
boil
for few more minutes
stirring
in between.
9.
Mix
little
coconut oil
to chutney for
taste
and
serve
.
