Onion Gotsu

Ingredients

• • Onion (peeled, small) - ½ kg
• • Tamarind - small lemon size
• • Salt - as required
• • Coconut oil - as required (optional)

Ingredients For Roasting & Grinding

• • Red chillies - 8
• • Dhania - 2 teaspoons
• • Coconut (grated, fresh) - 1 cup

Ingredients For Seasoning

• • Cumin seeds - ½ teaspoon

Method

• 1. Peel small onions and cut finely.
• 2. Soak tamarind in water and squeeze to a thick extract. Strain.
• 3. Heat little oil in a 'frying pan' and roast chillies, dhania until crisp.
• 4. Transfer to a plate and keep aside. In that same frying pan roast coconut until it turns dark brown in colour.
• 5. Grind chillies, dhania, coconut to a coarse chutney consistency.
• 6. Heat little oil, add cumin seeds, cut onions and fry until golden.
• 7. Pour tamarind extract, salt and boil.
• 8. Add ground paste and boil for few more minutes stirring in between.
• 9. Mix little coconut oil to chutney for taste and serve.
