Mustard seeds

Urad dal

Chana dal
- 1 teaspoon

Hing
- a pinch
•
Curry leaves
- 1 sprig
•
Green chillies (slit)
- 2
•
Ginger (chopped)
- 1 teaspoon
•
Onion (cubed)
- 1
•
Carrots (shredded)
- 1 tablespoon
•
Peas
- 1 tablespoon
•
Turmeric powder
- a pinch
•
Oats
- 1 cup
•
Salt
- as required
•
Water
- 3 tablespoons
•
Lemon juice
- as required
•
Peanuts (roasted)
- 1 tablespoon
•
Cashew nuts (roasted)
- 1 tablespoon
•
Coconut (grated)
- 1 tablespoon
•
Coriander leaves
- 1 teaspoon
Method
1.
Heat
1 tablespoon of
oil
in a pan.
Add
cumin seeds
,
mustard seeds
,
urad dals
,
chana dal
and
hing
.
2. When the dals starts to turn golden brown,
add
curry leaves
,
green chilly
,
ginger
,
onion
,
carrots
and
peas
.
3.
Fry
till the
onions
,
vegetables
are soft.
Cover
and
cook
if needed.
Add
turmeric powder
.
4.
Add
oats
and
salt
.
Fry
for 1-2 minutes.
5.
Add
3 tablespoons of
water
and
lemon juice
.
Mix
well and
cook
for about 2 minutes.
6.
Add
peanuts
,
cashew nuts
grated
coconut
and
coriander leaves
.
Mix
well.
7.
Serve
hot with chutneys.
