Mochakottai Parangikai Kuzhambu

Ingredients
•
Yellow pumpkins (cut into square pieces)
- 2 cups
•
Field bean seeds/Mochais (fresh)
- 1 cup
•
Tamarind
- lemon size
•
Salt
- as required
•
Oil
- as required
Ingredients For Roasting And Grinding
•
Red chillies
- 7
•
Coriander seeds
- 1 teaspoon
•
Cumin seeds
- ½ teaspoon
•
Pepper
- 1 teaspoon
•
Urad dal
- 1 teaspoon
•
Bengal gram dal
- 1 ½ teaspoons
•
Coconut (grated, fresh)
- ¼ cup
Ingredients For Seasoning
•
Mustard seeds
- ½ teaspoon
•
Urad dal
- 1 teaspoon
•
Bengal gram dal
- 1 teaspoon
•
Curry leaves
- 2 sprigs
•
Asafoetidas
- ¼ teaspoon
Method
1.
Cut
yellow pumpkin
with skin into 2 inch square pieces.
2.
Boil
with enough
water
, until just soft.
3.
Soak
tamarind
in
water
, squeeze to
get
extract,
strain
and
keep
aside.
4. Pressure
cook
field beans
in enough
water
for 1 whistle directly.
5.
Heat
½ teaspoon of
oil
,
fry
the
ingredients
one by one as mentioned in "For
Roasting
and
Grinding
".
6. Finally
add
coconut
,
fry
lightly and
remove
from fire.
7. Allow cool and
grind
it to a smooth
paste
.
8. When
pumpkin
pieces are cooked,
pour
tamarind
extract,
salt
,
ground paste
and cooked
field beans
.
9. Allow to
boil
, until thick.
10.
Fry
seasoning
ingredients
in
oil
and
pour
over kuzhambu.
11.
Remove
from fire.
12.
Serve
hot with cooked rice.
