Kerala Fish Curry

Ingredients
•
White fish (cut into cubes)
- 250 grams
•
Onion
- 1
•
Tomato
- 1
•
Garlic
- 6 cloves
•
Green chillies (deseeded & sliced)
- 2
•
Oil
- 6 teaspoons
•
Coconut paste (fresh)
- ½ cup
•
Red chilly paste
- ½ teaspoon
•
Coriander powder
- 1 teaspoon
•
Turmeric powder
- ½ teaspoon
•
Salt
- 1 teaspoon
•
Red chillies (dry)
- 2
•
Black mustard seeds
- ½ teaspoon
•
Curry leaves
- 10
•
Tamarind extract
- ½ cup
•
Water
- 1 cup
Method
1.
Make
a
paste
of
onion
,
tomatoes
,
garlic
and
green chillies
,
keep
aside.
2.
Heat
oil
in a pan and
add
coconut paste
and
cook
until it turns into golden brown color.
Add
red chilly paste
,
coriander powder
and
salt
,
cook
it for a couple of minutes and set aside.
3.
Heat
oil
in another saucepan,
add
mustard
seeds
, pieces of dry
red chillies
and
curry leaves
. Once the
mustard
seeds
splutter,
add
the
onion
/
tomato
paste
and
fry
until brown.
4.
Add
the cooked
coconut paste
,
tamarind extract
and a cup of
water
.
Stir
well and bring it to
boil
.
5.
Add
fish
pieces and
simmer
for about 10 minutes.
6.
Serve
hot with cooked rice preferably boiled rice.
