Keerai Masiyal with Onion

Ingredients

• • Onions - 2
• • Amaranth leaves/Keerais (finely chopped) - 3 cups
• • Green chillies - 8
• • Mango (raw, sour, green) - ½
• • Brinjals (tender) - 2
• • Tamarind extract - a little
• • Salt - as required
• • Sugar - as required
• • Tomato - 1 (optional)
• • Red chilly powder - ½ teaspoon

Ingredients For Seasoning

• • Oil - 2 teaspoons
• • Mustard seeds - ½ teaspoon
• • Black gram dal - 1 teaspoon
• • Bengal gram dal - 1 teaspoon

Method

• 1. Scrape outer skin and cut mango into fine pieces.
• 2. Mince green chillies.
• 3. Cut all the vegetables and keerai into very fine pieces.
• 4. Mix everything in a vessel, add salt, sugar, red chilly powder tamarind extract and pressure cook for 7 to 10 minutes.
• 5. When it is cooked, mash well and heat again for few minutes.
• 6. Heat little oil, add seasoning and pour over cooked mashed keerai and mix well.
