Karamani Sundal

Ingredients

• • Karamanis - 1 cup
• • Salt - as required
• • Oil - 2 teaspoons
• • Mustard seeds - ½ teaspoon
• • Red chillies - 2
• • Curry leaves - 1 sprig
• • Hings - a pinch
• • Coconut (grated) - 3 tablespoons

Method

• 1. Soak the Karamani overnight.
• 2. Next day, drain the water.
• 3. Add fresh water and pressure cook the Karamani with salt till it is soft. Allow for only 2-3 whistles
• 4. Drain any excess water.
• 5. Heat a teaspoon of oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, when it splutters, add red chilly, curry leaves and hing.
• 6. Add the cooked lentil, grated coconut and mix it well.
