Kala Dal Gravy

Ingredients

Black masoors
- 1 cup
•
Onions
- 2
•
Ginger
- 1 inch piece
•
Green chillies
- 3
•
Garlic
- 6 flakes
•
Salt
- as required
•
Garam masala powder
- ½ teaspoon
•
Tomatoes
- 2
•
Coriander leaves
- 1 bunch
•
Lime
- 1
•
Jeera
- 1 teaspoon
•
Pepper powder
- ¼ teaspoon
Method
1.
Soak
masoor
in
water
for one hour.
2.
Add
cut
chillies
, finely
cut
ginger
to it and
cook
separately with enough
water
till each grain is separate. (Do not pressure
cook
since the grains may become soft and stick together).
3. Slightly
mash
it.
4.
Heat
oil
in a pan, season with
jeera
,
add
finely
cut
garlic
and
onions
fry
for few minutes,
add
cut
tomatoes
and
stir
well.
5.
Add
to the
dal
and
cook
for few minutes.
6. Squeeze
lime
before
removing
from fire.
7. Sprinkle
garam masala
,
pepper powder
and garnish with
coriander
and curry
leaves
.
