Fried Onion Chutney

Ingredients

• • Onion (big) - ½ kg
• • Red chillies - 10
• • Tamarind (soaked in water) - small lime size
• • Jaggery (grated) - a little
• • Salt - as required
• • Coconut (grated, fresh) - 2 teaspoons
• • Grams (roasted) - 1 tablespoon
• • Turmeric powder - ¼ teaspoon
• • Asafoetidas - a little
• • Oil - 2 tablespoons
• • Mustard seeds - ½ teaspoon
• • Curry leaves - 2 sprigs

Method

• 1. Peel and dice onions.
• 2. Grind red chillies, salt,jaggery, coconut, tamarind and roasted gram together in a mixie
• 3. Add onions at the end and grind coarsely.
• 4. Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, curry leaves, asafoetida and then ground paste.
• 5. Stir fry for few minutes.
