Fried Chutney

Ingredients
•
Mustard seeds
- ½ teaspoon
•
Urad dal
- 1 teaspoon
•
Bengal gram dal
- 1 ½ teaspoons
•
Asafoetidas
- a pinch
•
Onion (big)
- 1
•
Red chillies
- 5
•
Coconut (grated)
- 3 tablespoons
•
Tamarinds
- 2 tablespoons
•
Salt
- as required
Method
1. Combine the
bengal gram dal
,
urad dal
,
red chillies
and
tamarind
in a
frying
pan and dry
roast
on a medium flame till they turn light pink in colour.
Remove
and
keep
aside.
2.
Heat
the
oil
in the same
frying
pan,
add
the
coconut
and sauté on a medium flame till it turns golden brown in colour, while
stirring
continuously.
Keep
aside.
3. When cool, combine all the
ingredients
together and
blend
in a mixer to a coarse
powder
.
4.
Add
the
salt
and
mix
well. Season with
mustard seeds
.
5.
Store
in an air-tight container and use as required.
