Dal Fry

Ingredients
•
Black masoor dal
- 1 cup
•
Ginger
- 1 inch piece
•
Garlic
- 5 flakes
•
Green chillies (slit lengthwise)
- 2
•
Cumin seeds
- ½ teaspoon
•
Garam masala powder
- 1 teaspoon
•
Dhania powder
- 1 tablespoon
•
Jeera powder
- 1 teaspoon
•
Red chilly powder
- 1 teaspoon
•
Salt
- as required
•
Onions (finely cut)
- ¼ cup
•
Tomatoes (cut into cubes)
- 2
•
Butter (for frying)
- as required
•
Cream (fresh, for garnishing)
- 1 tablespoon
•
Lemon
- 1
•
Coriander leaves (chopped)
- 1 tablespoon
Method
1.
Wash
and
soak
dal
for 2 hours.
2.
Add
chopped
ginger
,
garlic
and pressure
cook
dal
directly in pressure pan till one or two whistles.
3.
Mash
the
dal
lightly and
keep
aside.
4.
Heat
oil
or
butter
in a pan,
add
cumin seeds
,
chillies
and then
onion
.
5.
Fry
till crisp and
mix
chopped
tomatoes
.
6.
Stir
for a minute and
add
dhania powder
,
jeera powder
,
garam masala powder
,
chilly
powder
and
salt
7.
Mix
well,
add
mashed
dal
,
cook
for few minutes.
8.
Remove
from fire, squeeze
lemon
juice.
Pour
in
serving
dish, decorate with whipped
cream
and chopped
coriander leaves
.
