Dal Dhokli

Ingredients For Making Gravy
•
Green grams (split, with skin)
- 1 cup
•
Turmeric powder
- ¼ teaspoon
•
Chilly powder
- 1 teaspoon
•
Jeera powder
- ½ teaspoon
•
Dhania powder
- 1 ½ tablespoons
•
Salt
- as required
•
Bay leaf
- 1
•
Curry leaves
- 1 sprig
•
Asafoetida powder
- a pinch
•
Cumin seeds
- ½ teaspoon
•
Oil
- 2 tablespoons
•
Garam masala powder
- ½ teaspoon
•
Ghee
- 1 teaspoon
Ingredients For Dhokli
•
Wheat flour
- ½ cup
•
Turmeric powder
- ¼ teaspoon
•
Jeera powder
- ½ teaspoon
•
Coriander leaves (chopped)
- 1 tablespoon
•
Oil
- 1 teaspoon
•
Salt (powdered)
- 1 teaspoon
Method To Prepare Dhokli
1.
Mix
turmeric
,
jeera powder
, chopped
coriander
,
salt
and little
oil
with
wheat flour
.
2.
Add
enough
water
and knead like a chapati dough.
3.
Roll
out like chapatis and
cut
into even sized square pieces (l inch thickness)
4.
Heat
plenty of
water
in a broad vessel. When it starts
boiling
add
cut
pieces of dhokli and
cook
till just soft.
5.
Strain
excess
water
through a colander and
keep
dhokli pieces separately.
Method To Prepare Dal
1. Pressure
cook
, split dhal in enough
water
till just soft.
2.
Heat
oil
and
ghee
in a
frying
pan. When it becomes hot
add
bay leaf
,
curry leaves
,
cumin seeds
,
asafoetida powder
.
3.
Stir
for a minute and
add
dhania powder
, red
chilly powder
,
jeera powder
,
turmeric powder
.
4.
Mix
quickly and
pour
cooked
dal
and
salt
.
5.
Cook
for few minutes,
add
dhokli pieces at the end,
boil
for l or 2 minutes.
6. Just before
serving
add
melted
ghee
on top.
