Ingredients
•
Black gram (whole, with skin)
- 250 grams
•
Garlic (cut into thin round pieces)
- 6 flakes
•
Ginger (cut into long thin stripes)
- 1 teaspoon
•
Chilly powder
- 1 ½ teaspoons
•
Salt
- as required
•
Water
- 7 cups
•
Ghee
- 1 tablespoon
•
Cream (fresh, whipped)
- ¼ cup
Ingredients For Garnishing
•
Onion (cut into small pieces)
- 1
•
Green chillies (cut into round pieces)
- 3
Method
1.
Fry
the
garlic
in
ghee
add
water
and
ginger
.
2. Put
dal
in it.
3.
Add
chilly powder
,
salt
and
cook
in pressure cooker for 15 to 20 minutes after the whistle sound.
4.
Remove
the
cover
and
cook
in a low
heat
for 20 more minutes.
5.
Add
cream
and
cook
for two more minutes.
Method To Make Garnishing
1.
Heat
one table spoon of
ghee
in a pan
add
half a Teaspoon of jeera,
mix
onions
and
chillies
,
fry
till brown.
2.
Pour
over
dal
and
serve
hot accompanied with lime.
Variation - Dal Makkani
• Use soaked rajma, black masoor, urad and green
gram
in the above recipe.
• Pressure
cook
for ½ an hour.
•
Add
little butter while
frying
and just before
serving
.
