Curd Upma

Ingredients

• • Rice (raw) - 2 cups
• • Coconut - 1
• • Green chillies - 10
• • Sour curd - 2 cups
• • Salt - 2 ½ teaspoons
• • Onions (finely cut) - ¼ cup (optional)
• • Curry leaves - few
• • Oil - 4 tablespoons

Ingredients For Seasoning

• • Mustard seeds - ½ teaspoon
• • Black gram dal - 1 teaspoon
• • Bengal gram dal - 1 ½ teaspoons

Method

• 1. Soak rice for 2 hours.
• 2. Grind it to coarse rawa consistency with green chillies and grated coconut.
• 3. Add salt and sour curd and dilute the ground paste to dosa batter consistency.
• 4. Heat oil in a heavy deep curved pan, add seasonings curry leaves and onion.
• 5. When it is fried add ground paste and stir constantly in medium flame till it is cooked.
• 6. When oil separates from the upma remove from fire.

Note - Easy Method

• • This can be pressure cooked directly in pressure cooker or pan.
• • Heat oil, add seasonings.
• • Mix ground paste and reduce flame.
• • Stir till it becomes thick.
• • Cover lid and keep weight on.
• • Reduce flame completely and cook for 10 minutes.
• • Switch off the stove and after few minutes, open lid and mix well.
