Chutney Chawal

Ingredients

Basmati rice
- 1 cup
•
Onions
- 2
•
Potatoes (diced)
- 2
•
Tomatoes
- 3
•
Turmeric powder
- ¼ teaspoon
•
Peas (cooked)
- ¼ cup
•
Coriander powder
- ½ teaspoon
•
Garam masala powder
- ½ teaspoon
•
Salt
- as required
•
Oil
- 2 tablespoons
•
Ginger-garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon
Ingredients For Grinding Together

Mint leaves
- 1 bunch
•
Coriander leaves
- ½ bunch
•
Green chillies
- 3
Method
1.
Grind
"For
Grinding
together" into fine
paste
sprinkling very little
water
.
2.
Wash
and
soak
rice
for 15 minutes.
3.
Cut
onions
lengthwise.
4.
Dice
tomatoes
, as small as possible.
5.
Peel
and
dice
potatoes
into big pieces.
6.
Heat
oil
in a heavy bottomed vessel and
fry
ginger-garlic paste
, and then
onions
.
7.
Fry
till light brown.
8.
Add
tomatoes
and
cook
till soft.
9.
Mix
potatoes
and
fry
for another few minutes.
10.
Add
salt
,
chilly
-
powder
,
garam masala
and
ground paste
.
11.
Fry
for a minute and then
add
two cups of
water
and
salt
.
12. When it starts
boiling
add
rice
and
mix
well.
13.
Reduce
flame and close with a tight lid.
14.
Keep
a weight on top.
15.
Cook
exactly for 20 minutes.
16. Check whether
water
is absorbed and
serve
hot with
onion
raita.
