Channa Dal Sundal

Ingredients

Channa dal
- 1 cup
•
Coconut (grated)
- 3 tablespoons
Ingredients For The Seasoning
•
Red chillies
- 2
•
Green chilly (finely chopped)
- 1
•
Oil
- 1 ½ tablespoons
•
Mustard seeds
- ¼ teaspoon
•
Urad dal
- 1 teaspoon
•
Salt
- as required
•
Curry leaves
- 1 sprig
•
Hings
- a pinch
Method
1.
Wash
and
soak
dehusked
channa
cal in enough
water
for 2 hours.
2.
Cook
the
dal
in a pan with the same soaked
water
.
3. Do not
cook
this
lentil
in a pressure cooker as it would
mash
very fast.
4.
Drain
any excess
water
.
5.
Heat
a Teaspoon of
oil
in a pan,
add
mustard seeds
, when it splutters,
add
hing
,
urad dal
,
red chilly
,
curry leaves
and
green chilly
.
6.
Toss
till
dal
changes to golden brown in colour.
7.
Add
the cooked
lentil
, grated
coconut
and
mix
it well.
