Cabbage Masala Poriyal

Ingredients
•
Cabbages (finely cut)
- 2 cups
•
Onions (chopped)
- 3 tablespoons
•
Tamarind extract
- a little
•
Thuar dal (cooked)
- ¼ cup
•
Salt
- as required
•
Jaggery
- as required
(optional)
•
Oil (for frying)
- as required
Ingredients For Grinding Together
•
Red chillies
- 8
•
Coconut (grated, fresh)
- 2 tablespoons
•
Coriander seeds
- 1 ½ teaspoons
•
Cumin seeds
- ½ teaspoon
•
Pepper
- ½ teaspoon
Method
1.
Cook
Cabbage
separately in just enough
water
till soft or steam for few minutes.
2.
Heat
oil
in a
frying
pan,
add
chopped
onions
and
fry
till golden.
3.
Add
cabbage
,
ground paste
and
fry
for few minutes till good smell comes.
4.
Add
tamarind extract
,
salt
, cooked
dal
and
fry
till it becomes a thick
paste
.
5.
Serve
with rice or chapati.
Note - Other Suggested Vegetables
• Boiled, peeled potato which is diced into big cubes.
• French beans or broad beans
cut
into ½ inch pieces and steam cooked.
• A combination of
cabbage
and potato.
• Finely chopped, cooked beetroot.
