Cabbage Dal Kootu

Onions

Green chillies

Tomatoes

Coconut (grated)
- ¼ cup
•
Cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon
•
Aniseeds
- ¼ teaspoon
•
Green gram dal
- ¼ cup
•
Cabbages (shredded)
- ½ cup
•
Turmeric powder
- ¼ teaspoon
•
Salt
- as required
•
Chilly powder
- ½ teaspoon
•
Oil
- 1 tablespoon
Method
1.
Cut
onion
,
tomatoes
and
cabbage
finely.
2. Slit
green chillies
into two.
3.
Grind
coconut
,
cumin
and
aniseeds
separately.
4.
Cook
dal
with enough
water
and
turmeric powder
.
5. When it is three fourth cooked,
add
cut
cabbage
and
cook
till it is soft and
dal
is mashed properly.
6.
Add
chilly powder
, fried
onion
,
green chillies
and
tomatoes
.
7.
Pour
the ground
mixture
with enough
salt
.
8.
Mix
well and
cook
till desired consistency is reached.
9.
Serve
with rice or chapati.
