Bread Upma

Ingredients

Bread
- 1 loaf
•
Onions
- 4
•
Green chillies
- 10
•
Fine bombay rawa
- ½ cup
•
Water
- 1 ¼ cups
•
Salt
- 1 teaspoon
•
Turmeric powder
- ½ teaspoon
•
Lemon
- 1
•
Oil
- 6 tablespoons
Ingredients For Seasoning
•
Mustard seeds
- ½ teaspoon
•
Black gram dal
- 1 teaspoon
•
Bengal gram dal
- 2 teaspoons
•
Curry leaves
- 1 sprig
Ingredients For Garnishing
•
Cashew nuts (fried)
- 1 tablespoon
•
Coriander leaves (cut)
- 1 tablespoon
•
Coconut (grated, fresh)
- 2 tablespoons
(optional)
Method
1.
Cut
bread
slices into very fine pieces.
2.
Chop
onions
into small pieces and
chillies
lengthwise.
3.
Heat
oil
in a broad
frying
pan.
Add
seasonings
,
chillies
and then
onion
.
4.
Fry
till
onions
change its colour.
Pour
water
with
turmeric powder
,
lemon
juice and
salt
.
5. When it starts
boiling
add
rawa
and
mix
for a minute or two.
6. Put
bread
pieces to that and
fry
in medium flame till upma becomes very hot.
7. Garnish with
coconut
,
coriander leaves
and
cashew nuts
.
Serve
hot.
Note
• If
lemon
juice is added at the end,
bread
absorbs wherever it falls and doesn't
mix
evenly to the upma. So always
add
lime juice in the beginning itself.
• If
bread
is dry little more
water
can be sprinkled while
frying
.
