Batani Ambat (Konkani Style)

Ingredients
•
Pea (fresh)
- 250 grams
•
Onions
- 2
•
Tamarind
- lime size
•
Turmeric powder
- ¼ teaspoon
•
Salt
- as required
•
Green chillies
- 7
•
Fenugreek seeds
- 1 teaspoon
•
Oil (for frying)
- as required
•
Coconut (fresh, grated)
- ¼ cup
•
Wheat flour
- 1 tablespoon
Method
1.
Chop
onions
finely.
2.
Cook
peas
till it becomes tender.
3.
Soak
tamarind
in little
water
and then take extract.
4.
Heat
little
oil
and
fry
the slit
green chillies
and
fenugreek seeds
.
5.
Fry
in medium flame lightly. (Do not over
fry
).
6.
Grind
both with grated
coconut
and
salt
to smooth
paste
.
7.
Mix
ground paste
with
tamarind
extract and cooked
peas
.
8.
Cook
for few minutes.
9. Meanwhile
fry
onions
in
oil
separately till golden brown.
10.
Add
it to the
boiling
gravy.
Mix
wheat flour
in little
water
to a
paste
and
pour
it in the gravy
stirring
constantly.
11. Allow to
boil
for 2 minutes and
remove
from fire.
12.
Serve
it hot with Idlis or chapatis.
