Tomato Kuzhambu

Tomatoes

Green chillies (sliced lengthwise)
- 3

Curry leaves

•
Onions (big)
- 2

Turmeric powder
- ¼ teaspoon
•
Coconut extract (thick)
- 1 cup
•
Garam masala powder
- as required
•
Coconut milk
- ½ cup

- ¼ inch piece
•
Cumin seeds
- ½ teaspoon
•
Coconut (grated, fresh)
- 1 ½ tablespoons

- ¼ cup

Poppy seeds
- 2 teaspoons
Method
1.
Slice
onions
lengthwise and
tomatoes
into big cubes.
2.
Heat
little
oil
and
fry
green chillies
,
onion
and
curry leaves
.
3.
Add
ground paste
(1),
tomato
pieces,
turmeric powder
and little
water
.
4. Close with a lid and
cook
till
tomatoes
become soft.
5.
Add
coconut milk
and
cook
for few minutes in reduced flame.
6.
Add
salt
,
ground paste
(2) and allow the gravy to come to
boiling
point.
7.
Remove
from fire and
serve
hot with cooked rice.
