Tamarind Bhath With Roasted Rice

Ingredients

Rice
- 1 cup
•
Onions
- 3
•
Green chillies
- 4
•
Red chillies
- 5
•
Tamarind
- medium lemon size
•
Salt
- as required
•
Jaggery
- 1 teaspoon
(optional)
•
Oil
- 2 tablespoons
•
Curry leaves
- few
Ingredients For Seasoning

Mustard seeds
- ΒΌ teaspoon
•
Bengal gram dal
- 1 teaspoon
Method
1.
Heat
a broad
frying
pan and
roast
plain
rice
(without
adding
oil
) in medium flame constantly till it becomes golden in colour.
2.
Remove
from fire and allow it to cool.
3.
Dice
onions
into two.
4.
Break
red chillies
.
5.
Soak
tamarind
and extract juice.
6.
Make
it up as three cups by
adding
more
water
.
7.
Heat
a pressure cooker or pan.
8.
Pour
oil
,
tamper
mustard seeds
and
bengal gram
.
9.
Add
red chillies
,
curry leaves
,
green chillies
and then
onion
.
10.
Fry
for two minutes till
onion
becomes transparent.
11.
Add
tamarind
extract,
salt
and
jaggery
.
12. When it starts
boiling
,
add
roasted
rice
and
mix
well.
13.
Cover
and
keep
the weight on top.
14.
Reduce
flame and
cook
for 10 minutes.
15. After
removing
the lid ,
mix
well and
serve
hot.
