Sprouted Green Gram Sundal

Ingredients

• • Green grams - 1 cup
• • Coconut (grated) - 3 tablespoons

Ingredients For The Seasoning

• • Red chillies - 2
• • Green chilly (finely chopped) - 1
• • Oil - 1 ½ tablespoons
• • Mustard seeds - ¼ teaspoon
• • Urad dal - 1 teaspoon
• • Salt - as required
• • Curry leaves - few
• • Hings - a pinch

Method

• 1. Soak green gram overnight, drain, tie them up in a muslin cloth for another 12-14 hours for them to sprout.
• 2. Wash and pressure cook with less water, salt needed for 1-2 whistles.
• 3. The green gram should be soft but not mashed up.
• 4. Drain any excess water.
• 5. Heat a teaspoon of oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, when it splutters, add hing, urad dal, red chilly, curry leaves and green chilly.
• 6. Toss till dal changes to golden brown in colour.
• 7. Add the cooked green gram, grated coconut and mix it well. Check for salt and remove from flame.
