Roasted Gram Sambar

Ingredients

• • Onions (small) - ½ cup
• • Tomatoes - 3
• • Turmeric powder - ½ teaspoon
• • Salt - as required
• • Sugar/Jaggery - as required (optional)
• • Mustard seeds - ½ teaspoon
• • Coriander leaves - a little
• • Curry leaves - 1 sprig

Ingredients For Frying & Grinding Together

• • Dhania - 1 teaspoon
• • Red chillies - 8

Ingredients For Grinding Separately

• • Bengal grams (roasted) - 1 ½ tablespoons

Method

• 1. Chop onions and tomatoes.
• 2. Heat little oil and season with little mustard seeds.
• 3. Add onions and then tomatoes.
• 4. Fry well and pour water with salt and turmeric.
• 5. Boil till raw flavour is lost.
• 6. Add ground mixture of dhania and chillies.
• 7. Boil for few more minutes.
• 8. Just before removing from fire add gram powder which is made into a paste with water.
• 9. Garnish with curry leaves and coriander leaves.
