Red Gram Dal Oothappam

Ingredients

Rice (raw)
- 3 cups
•
Red gram dal
- 1 cup
•
Bengal gram dal
- ½ cup
•
Sour thick curd
- as required
•
Salt
- 3 teaspoons
•
Onions (finely cut)
- ¼ cup
Ingredients For Tampering
•
Oil
- 1 ½ tablespoons
•
Red chillies (broken)
- 7
•
Mustard seeds
- ¼ teaspoon
Method
1.
Wash
and dry the
rice
and
dal
separately. (Dry under shade by
spreading
on a cloth)
2. Pound it like fine rawa separately in mixie.
3.
Mix
together and
soak
in
sour thick curd
with enough
salt
previous day itself. (night)
4. Next day morning,
heat
oil
,
add
seasonings
and
pour
on top of the batter.
5.
Mix
onions
and
pour
, on a hot 'tawa' into thick oothappam.
6.
Add
a teaspoon of
oil
while
frying
.
7. Close with a lid on top while
frying
.
8. Turn over and
cook
in medium flame till golden.
9.
Serve
hot with
onion
chutney.
