Paruppu Thogayal

Ingredients

• • Bengal gram dal - ¼ cup
• • Red chillies - 8
• • Tamarind (soaked & extracted) - lime size
• • Salt - as required
• • Garlic (peeled) - 6 flakes
• • Oil (for frying and seasoning) - as required
• • Mustard seeds - ¼ teaspoon

Method

• 1. Heat little oil and fry chillies and dal together till golden brown.
• 2. Cool down and grind to coarse paste with tamarind, salt, garlic with little water.
• 3. Season with mustard seeds.
