Ingredients

Gooseberries
- 20
•
Water
- as required
•
Sesame oil
- 4 tablespoons
•
Mustard seeds
- 2 teaspoons
•
Fenugreek seeds
- ¼ teaspoon
•
Asafoetida powder
- ½ teaspoon
•
Red chilly powder
- 5 teaspoons
•
Turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon
•
Salt
- as required
•
Jaggery
- 1 teaspoon
Method
1.
Boil
water
in a saucepan and
add
gooseberries
.
Cook
for 20 minutes until
Gooseberries
starts opening up.
2.
Blend
the cooked
gooseberry
with some
water
into a smooth
paste
.
Keep
aside.
3. In a
frying
pan,
heat
sesame oil
.
Add
mustard seeds
,
fenugreek seeds
,
asafoetida powder
and
red chilly powder
.
Mix
well.
4.
Add
blended
gooseberry
mixture
.
Mix
well.
5.
Add
turmeric powder
,
salt
and
jaggery
.
Mix
well.
6.
Serve
. The thokku can be saved in an airtight container in the fridge for a few weeks.
