Modachya Moongachi Amti

Ingredients

• • Sprouted green grams - 1 ½ cups
• • Oil - 2 tablespoons
• • Tamarind extract - 1 tablespoon
• • Salt - as required
• • Coriander leaves (chopped) - 1 tablespoon
• • Mustard seeds - ½ teaspoon
• • Curry leaves - 1 sprig

Ingredients For Masala

• • Coconut (dry roast till light brown) - ½ cup
• • Onions (chop & fry in oil till light brown) - 2
• • Red chilly powder - 1 teaspoon
• • Asafoetidas - a pinch
• • Cloves - 3
• • Cinnamon - 1 inch piece
• • Cumin seeds - 2 teaspoons

Method

• 1. Fry all masala ingredients in a little oil separately and then grind with other ingredients.
• 2. Keep sprouts in a vessel and steam cook in a cooker without keeping weight for 7 minutes.
• 3. Heat little oil, add mustard seeds, curry leaves and then ground paste.
• 4. Stir fry for few minutes, add tamarind extract, salt and then cooked gram.
• 5. Pour just enough water and cook till it becomes thick.
• 6. Serve garnished with coriander leaves.
