Mochai Payaru Sundal

Ingredients

Mochai payarus
- 1 cup
•
Coconut (grated)
- 3 tablespoons
Ingredients For The Seasoning
•
Red chillies
- 2
•
Green chilly (finely chopped)
- 1
•
Oil
- 1 ½ tablespoons
•
Mustard seeds
- ¼ teaspoon
•
Urad dal
- 1 teaspoon
•
Salt
- as required
•
Curry leaves
- few
•
Hings
- a pinch
Method
1.
Soak
the
mochai payaru
overnight.
2. Next day,
drain
the
water
.
3.
Add
Fresh
water
and pressure
cook
the
mochai payaru
with
salt
till it is soft. Allow for only 2-3 whistles
4.
Drain
any excess
water
.
5.
Heat
a teaspoon of
oil
in a pan,
add
mustard seeds
, when it splutters,
add
hing
,
urad dal
,
red chilly
,
curry leaves
and
green chilly
.
6.
Toss
till
dal
changes to golden brown in colour.
7.
Add
the cooked
lentil
, grated
coconut
and
mix
it well.
