Mixed Dal Puttu

Ingredients
•
Red gram dal
- 1 cup
•
Bengal gram dal
- 1 cup
•
Green gram dal
- 1 cup
•
Coconut (grated)
- 2 tablespoons
•
Lemons
- 2
•
Green chillies
- 6
•
Salt
- 2 teaspoons
•
Oil
- 1 tablespoon
Ingredients For Seasoning
•
Cashew nuts
- 1 tablespoon
•
Bengal gram dal
- ½ tablespoon
•
Curry leaves
- a few
Method
1.
Soak
dal
varieties together in
water
for 1 ½ to 2 hours.
2.
Grind
coarsely. (like fine rawa consistency)
3. Steam like Idlis.
4. Allow it to cool thoroughly.
5. Sprinkle little
hot water
and crumble well.
6.
Heat
oil
,
add
seasonings
along with minced
chillies
and crumbled Idlis.
7.
Fry
well in medium flame.
8. Before
removing
from fire squeeze
lemon
and
mix
with grated
coconut
.
Variation - Sweet
•
Keep
Idlis without
adding
salt
.
• After crumbling well, measure it.
• Take half measure of sugar.
•
Pour
little
water
in sugar and
boil
till one string consistency.
• Put the crumbled Idlis,
mix
well and
remove
from fire.
•
Add
grated fresh
coconut
, fried
cashew nuts
, cardamom
powder
along with little ghee.
