Ingredients
•
Red chillies
- 10
•
Rice (raw)
- 3 teaspoons
•
Fenugreek
- ¾ teaspoon
•
Onions
- 2
•
Tamarind
- lemon size
•
Jaggery (grated)
- 1 tablespoon
•
Salt
- as required
•
Turmeric powder
- a pinch
•
Curry leaves
- few
Ingredients For Seasoning
•
Oil
- 1 teaspoon
•
Mustard seeds
- ¼ teaspoon
Method
1.
Chop
onions
into very fine pieces.
2.
Soak
tamarind
in
water
, squeeze and take extract.(dilute with 2 cups of
water
)
3. Dry
roast
rice
,
fenugreek
,
red chillies
each separately till it turns golden and
powder
it together.
4.
Boil
tamarind
extract with
salt
,
turmeric
,
jaggery
for few minutes.
5.
Reduce
flame,
add
powdered
ingredients
and
stir
constantly to avoid lump formation.
6. When gravy becomes thick,
add
¾ the raw
onions
and
cook
for 2 minutes.
7.
Remove
from fire and
mix
rest of the raw
onions
.
8.
Fry
seasoning
in hot
oil
and
pour
on top of the gravy.
9. Garnish with
curry leaves
.
Note
• This gravy tastes good only if
jaggery
is added.
• After
adding
onions
do not over
cook
.
• Only if
onions
are crisp, this gravy tastes better.
