Masala Vada

Chana dal (soaked)
- 1 cup
•
Red chillies (dry)
- 3
•
Asafoetida
- ¼ teaspoon
•
Salt
- as required
•
Onions (chopped)
- ½ cup
•
Cashew nuts
- 1 tablespoon
•
Green chillies (finely chopped)
- 4
•
Ginger (finely chopped)
- 1 inch
•
Curry leaves
- 1 sprig
•
Coriander leaves (chopped)
- ¼ cup
•
Oil (for deep frying)
- as required
Method
1.
Soak
chana dal
in
water
for about 4 hours or overnight.
2.
Grind
soaked
chana dal
, dry
red chilly
,
asafoetida
and
salt
without
water
into a
coarse paste
.
3. In a bowl,
add
grounded
dal
, chopped
onion
,
cashew nuts
,
green chilly
,
ginger
,
curry
leave and
coriander leaves
. Combine well.
4.
Heat
oil
for deep
frying
.
5.
Make
small balls out of the dough and press them with your hand into small round circles.
6. Deep
fry
the vada circles until both the sides turn golden brown. 7,
Serve
with chutney. Enjoy!
