Ingredients

Rice (raw)
- 1 cup
•
Urad dal
- ¾ cup
•
Onions (small)
- 10
•
Mustard seeds
- ½ teaspoon
•
Coconut (scraped)
- 2 tablespoons
•
Green chillies (chopped)
- 2
•
Ginger (chopped)
- 1 inch
•
Curry leaves
- 1 sprig
•
Oil
- as required
Method
1.
Soak
rice
and
urad dal
separately for 4 hours.
2.
Grind
the
rice
and the
urad dal
into a fine consistency.
3. The batter should be a slightly more watery than the vada batter.
4.
Pour
this into a bowl,
add
salt
and
mix
well.
5.
Heat
oil
in a pan,
add
mustard seeds
and crackle.
6. And then
add
onions
,
green chillies
,
ginger
,
curry leaves
and shredded
coconut
and saute it.
7.
Pour
this into the batter and
mix
well.
8.
Heat
oil
for deep
frying
. Drop spoonful of batter in hot
oil
and
fry
till golden.
9.
Serve
with chutney.
