How to make Sambar Powder (Kerala & Tamil Nadu)

Ingredients

• • Red chillies - 3 cups
• • Dhania/Coriander seeds - 2 cups
• • Bengal gram dal - ¼ cup
• • Thuar dal - ¼ cup
• • Black pepper - 1 ½ tablespoons
• • Turmeric root (dry) - 1 piece

Method

• 1. Dry all the ingredients under hot sun till dry and then powder it.
• 2. Preserve in dry, airtight bottles or roast each ingredient separately and powder together.

Note

• • 1 or 2 Teaspoons of fenugreek can be added.
• • Dry roast it and powder with other ingredients.
