How to Make Garam Masala Powder

Ingredients
•
Coriander seeds
- ½ cup
•
Cumin seeds
- ¼ cup
•
Green cardamoms
- 2 tablespoons
•
Black cardamoms
- 4
•
Cloves
- 2 tablespoons
•
Pepper corns
- 1 tablespoon
•
Cinnamon sticks (2 inch)
- 6
•
Bay leaves
- 4
•
Nutmeg
- 1
•
Star anise
- 1
•
Strands of mace
- 3
•
Fennel seeds
- 1 tablespoon
Method
1. Clean the
bay leaf
and inner part of
cinnamon stick
with a dry or damp cloth to
remove
dirt and larvae.
2.
Break
open the
nutmeg
and check for worms.
3. Pick and discard stones and debris from all the
spices
.
4. Sun dry them in hot sun for a day or dry
roast
them one after the other without burning till you
get
a nice aroma.
5. Transfer to a wide plate and cool thoroughly.
6.
Powder
finely in a blender.
7. Sieve and
powder
the coarse
spices
again and repeat the sieve. Discard or
add
the coarse particles of
spices
to your tea
powder
.
8.
Store
this garam
masala
powder
in an air tight, sun dried glass jar.
