Green Gram Dal Idli

Ingredients

Green gram dal
- 1 cup
•
Coconut (grated, fresh)
- 1 ½ tablespoons
•
Green chillies
- 6
•
Asafoetida
- 2 pinches
•
Sour curd (thick)
- ½ cup
•
Cooking soda
- ½ teaspoon
•
Salt
- 1 teaspoon
•
Oil
- 1 ½ tablespoons
•
Mustard seeds
- ¼ teaspoon
Method
1.
Soak
dal
for 2 hours.
2.
Grind
coconut
,
green chillies
,
asafoetida
and
salt
to smooth
paste
.
3.
Grind
dal
separately without
adding
water
till coarse rawa consistency.
4.
Mix
both the
ground paste
together with
sour curd
.
5.
Heat
oil
and splutter
mustard seeds
in it and
pour
over the batter with
soda
.
6.
Mix
well and steam idlis in usual way immediately (No need to ferment this batter).
