Gooseberry Rice

Ingredients
•
Rice
- 1 cup
•
Gooseberries (small)
- 15
•
Turmeric powder
- ¼ teaspoon
•
Salt
- as required
•
Green chillies
- 10
•
Oil
- 2 tablespoons
•
Coriander leaves (for garnishing)
- as required
Ingredients For Seasoning
•
Mustard seeds
- ½ teaspoon
•
Black gram dal
- 1 teaspoon
•
Bengal gram dal
- 1 teaspoon
•
Cashew nuts (broken)
- 1 tablespoon
•
Curry leaves
- few
Method
1.
Cook
rice
and allow it to cool.
2.
Add
turmeric powder
on top of
rice
when it is still hot.
3.
Remove
seeds
from
gooseberries
and
cut
as finely as possible.
4.
Cut
few
green chillies
into two.
5.
Grind
rest of the
chillies
with a dash of
salt
.
6.
Heat
oil
,
add
the
seasonings
and
fry
till golden brown.
7.
Add
green chillies
and then
gooseberries
.
8.
Fry
till
gooseberries
become soft.
9.
Add
paste
and
fry
for a minute.
10.
Remove
from fire.
11. When it cools down,
mash
well with hand,
add
to
rice
with enough
salt
and
mix
thoroughly.
12. Garnish with
cut
coriander leaves
.
