Dhokla - 2

Ingredients

• • Bengal gram dal - 1 cup
• • Ginger and green chilly paste - 1 teaspoon
• • Turmeric powder - ¼ teaspoon
• • Sour thick curd - ¼ cup
• • Eno fruit salt/Cooking soda - 1 tablespoon
• • Oil - 2 tablespoons
• • Red chilly powder - ½ teaspoon
• • Coriander leaves (cut) - as required
• • Coconut (grated) - 1 ½ tablespoons

Method

• 1. Soak dal for 1 ½ hours.
• 2. Grind into thick paste of coarse rawa consistency.
• 3. Mix salt, curd, ginger and green chilly paste and turmeric powder to that.
• 4. Add oil to which ENO fruit salt or cooking soda is mixed.
• 5. Pour over the batter, mix well and steam immediately.
• 6. Cut into pieces, sprinkle chilly powder, coriander leaves and coconut.
• 7. Serve with mint or coriander chutney.

Variations

• • Use bengal gram flour and do the recipe.
• • Add ½ Teaspoon soda, 1 Teaspoon sugar, ½ Teaspoon citric acid and salt to the flour.
• • Mix with water. Make into batter, steam like plate idlis.
• • Cut into pieces. Season with mustard, green chillies, cut ginger and garnish with grated coconut.
