Ingredients
•
Bengal gram dal
- 1 cup
•
Ginger and green chilly paste
- 1 teaspoon
•
Turmeric powder
- ¼ teaspoon
•
Sour thick curd
- ¼ cup
•
Eno fruit salt/Cooking soda
- 1 tablespoon
•
Oil
- 2 tablespoons
•
Red chilly powder
- ½ teaspoon
•
Coriander leaves (cut)
- as required
•
Coconut (grated)
- 1 ½ tablespoons
Method
1.
Soak
dal
for 1 ½ hours.
2.
Grind
into thick
paste
of coarse rawa consistency.
3.
Mix
salt
,
curd
,
ginger and green chilly paste
and
turmeric powder
to that.
4.
Add
oil
to which
ENO fruit salt
or
cooking
soda
is mixed.
5.
Pour
over the batter,
mix
well and steam immediately.
6.
Cut
into pieces, sprinkle
chilly
powder
,
coriander leaves
and
coconut
.
7.
Serve
with mint or
coriander
chutney.
Variations
• Use
bengal gram
flour and do the recipe.
•
Add
½ Teaspoon
soda
, 1 Teaspoon sugar, ½ Teaspoon citric acid and
salt
to the flour.
•
Mix
with
water
.
Make
into batter, steam like plate idlis.
•
Cut
into pieces. Season with mustard, green
chillies
,
cut
ginger and garnish with grated
coconut
.
